An Olympic-Sized Upset
Ask anyone before the Winter Olympics who knows anything about women’s ice hockey who they believed would be the two teams competing in the final for gold and the common response would have been the United States and Canada.
Well, they were half right.
Canada, in a win over Finland, has guaranteed themselves a berth in the gold medal game. But in a surprise upset, Sweden defeated the United States in an overtime shoot-out.
The United States, who won gold at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan and silver at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, must settle for a possible bronze medal.
